The Jane Goodall Institute is an international non-profit organization, founded by Jane Goodall Ph.D., DBE, the renowned primatologist and activist. His pioneering work in the study of animal behaviour and his firm commitment to environmental conservation have exerted a decisive influence on the environmental movement on a global scale. Through research, education and social and environmental impact programs, the Institute promotes sustainable change and respect for all living beings.

Since its founding in 1977, the Institute has developed emblematic programs such as Roots & Shoots, present in more than 60 countries, that promote youth leadership and environmental activism. It also manages conservation projects in Africa and supports scientific initiatives focused on the protection of chimpanzees and other endangered primates. Its comprehensive approach combines science and education to foster transformative change with global impact.

02/THE CHALLENGE

As part of her international tour, Jane Goodall visited Malaga, hisonly stop in Spain. This event had a strong institutional and social component, as it brought together more than 350 attendees including political representatives, the media, professionals from the academic field and the general public. Given the importance of the event, the communicative quality had to be aligned with the level of the figure and the message transmitted.

Thus, our primary mission was to ensure a faithful and professional interpretation of Jane Goodall’s message in a diverse set of scenarios: from conferences to institutional events. In addition, key moments of interpersonal communication were included, such as the meetings held between Goodall and local personalities, including the mayor and other relevant figures from the political and academic area. The project required precise planning to integrate different types of interpretation:

  • Simultaneous interpreting in the booth during the main conference, with more than 350 attendees.
  • Consecutive and whispered interpreting at press conferences, official receptions and institutional visits.
  • Technical and human coordination of the entire service, which included the assembly of booths, sound management and logistics of audio receivers.

The goal was clear: that every idea, every nuance, and every emotion should be conveyed with the same intensity and clarity in both languages.

03/THE SOLUTION

From Nóvalo we designed a comprehensive interpretation and organisation solution adapted to the institutional and communicative profile of the visit, with the aim of ensuring that Jane Goodall would be delivered with the same clarity and emotional depth to all attendees, bridging the language barrier.

  • Multi-format coverage: we set up a team of interpreters with experience in institutional, academic and scientific dissemination environments. This versatility allowed us to adapt the interpretation to each type of event: from the central conference, with a more technical and exhibition format, to personal interventions in closer meetings and official ceremonies.
  • Full technical support: we took care of the installation of the interpreting booths, professional sound system and receiver distribution logistics to ensure a seamless and seamless listening experience for more than 350 attendees. Integration with the event’s technical team was key to maintaining quality at all times.

Personalised attention: beyond the technical quality, our priority was also to generate an environment of trust and comfort for Jane Goodall and her team. From time management to the availability of support staff, we took care of every detail in order to offer a warm, professional and human experience. Our constant presence and close coordination with the organisation contributed to each intervention taking place under optimal conditions.

04/THE OUTCOME

Collaborating with Nóvalo, Jane Goodall’s message reached every corner of the auditorium and every institutional interlocutor with the clarity, warmth and strength that characterised it. Our work allowed her voice to resonate with the same intensity in Spanish and English.

The interpretation service provided by Nóvalo was key for the event to be successful at an organisational and media level. In addition, beyond its technical dimension, this work demonstrated how well-thought multilingual communication can build bridges, excite and generate a transformative impact. From Nóvalo, it has been an honour to be part of this unique experience. We thank the Jane Goodall Institute in Spain and the Malaga City Council for their trust in our team. This collaboration reminds us that when it comes to communicating what’s truly important, every word counts.
