Nóvalo will host a conference to be held in Marbella with the backing of the European University of Madrid

The Professional Translation Classroom of the European University of Madrid will move to Marbella on 2 October and will organize a conference entitled The Importance of Continuous Training for Professional Translators: Fields of Specialization and the New Technologies in collaboration with the linguistic and training services company Novalo eLingusitic Services.

The conference is aimed at translation and interpreting students and professionals who want keep up to date with the industry and get into contact with other professionals. It will focus on training for professional translators, job opportunities and the higher education offering available to translators.

This is a unique occasion to bring together translation and interpreting professionals in Andalusia and it aims to strengthen ties and promote continuous top-quality training in an industry which is highly important for the Costa del Sol area. In order to achieve this, the Marbella Local Authority has made the city’s Trade Fair and Congress Hall available as the venue for the event, which is located in one of the cities having one of the highest foreign population in Spain.

Speakers:

Celia Rico (Head of the Translation Area, European University of Madrid) holds a doctorate in English Literature and specializes in Translation Technologies, on which she gives classes at the European University of Madrid. She has published numerous articles in academic journals and has in-depth knowledge on how computer tools affect the work of translators.

Valentín López-Barrantes (Novalo eLingusitic Services) is a founder partner and the current Human Resources Manager of Nóvalo. He is also the company’s Joint Business Development Manager. Valentín is a technical translation and localization specialist who has worked as a translator, proofreader and project manager since 1998. He has been involved in projects for some of the industry’s most important players and has combined his professional career with a vocation for teaching by giving university-level training in the areas of technical translation and information technology applied to translation.
